Abstract
A two-phase interleaved three-level boost converter with coupled inductors is designed and analyzed in this paper. With three-level modulation, inductor current ripples are halved, and with coupled configuration plus interleaved operation, the current ripples are further reduced, therefore the size of the inductors can be minimized. However, modeling and analysis of such a converter becomes complicated. To describe the features of the converter in a simple but effective way, the simplified modeling method is proposed in this paper. The operational modes of the converter are first analyzed and the original mathematical model are built; then the model is properly simplified according some assumptions, so that the state-space model and small signal model can be obtained. Both Matlab simulation and experimental prototype are built, and the simulation and experimental results verify the validity of the simplified modeling method.
